A Trial in NYC, Our Show Topic Today
16 November 2009 | By patti-kgmi in UncategorizedFive men suspected of plotting the Sept. 11 attacks will be put on trial in a federal courthouse about eight blocks from where the World Trade Center stood. What are your thoughts? I believe that not only should this trial not take place in New York City, why are these men getting a trial that is for US citizens? If a trial by jury in the US is supposed to be by ones peers, where will they find twelve terrorists to sit on the jury?

In my opinion this will go down as one of the biggest and most serious mistakes ever made by an American President..and yes I say by the President, to believe that Eric Holder made this choice on his own without approval from the President…..would want any thinking person to suspend logic, proportion and reason……..unless of course the real goal of this move was to have the case thrown out of court on a legal tech…. such as his rights were not read to the terrorist or the terrorist was waterboarded to obtain a confession………then these is the school of thought by some that the administration wants the terrorist released as a sign to the arab street that we understand your grievances…and in some cases agree with them….the apology tour 2009 continues…….

It appears that Holder is seeking convictions in a federal court because they would carry more legitimacy than those achieved in a military court.

Good article. Well reasoned by a legal analyst.

Thank you for the link to a very well written article with some great points to ponder. First, I can only personally say that I look in the mirror each and every single day, proud of my strong convictions and lack of wavering even under the toughest scrutiny. I did not sit on my hands while Bush was in office; I was very opinionated about his shortcomings as well as those of Congress. I am consistent. I have taken a number of hits from some very angry people because I did not back Bush’s advice and Congress’ decision to go into Iraq. I will not apologize for anyone that feels differently, I can only say your feelings are each one’s own. However, after being there I am behind our troops and whatever means are necessary to keep them safe. This would include Afghanistan and Presidents Obama’s inability to make a decision. He just hasn’t figured out that as Commander in Chief you can’t vote present. (Side note: why haven’t the stories been written about the hundreds of thousands of remains found in mass graves in Iraq after we arrived there, just asking.)
I am not under any false premises that the worst of the worst were gathered up and put on island. I know they get their special meals and outdoor time for prayer. Even the worst criminals in our federal prison system don’t get time to pray outside. I only need to look at the act of a sole jihadist radical dressed in our Army’s clothing that acted with cold, calculated hate toward the United States two weeks ago to know that they are among us, shoulder to shoulder, side by side walking the streets freely as we speak. They are all around us plotting and scheming their next act of terror against those they hate…free Americans and everything we stand for. Revenge, my mind could not possibly think of an act that could cause enough emotional pain to those evil individuals.
Justice and fairness…where was the justice and fairness on the morning of September 11, 2001? Where was the fairness as innocent people went about their mornings on that sunny day not knowing their lives would be taken? Where is the justice for the families devastated by the deaths of their loved ones?
Regardless of how I have felt about the previous administration, I certainly felt safe the last eight years. This President can only travel abroad and continue to apologize for America. America has NOTHING to apologize for and if anyone believes we do, then by all means move elsewhere. Really, go somewhere else.
I made it a point to read the blogs in New York over the weekend, what a true story they tell. New Yorkers are angry and it had nothing to do with partisan politics. Obama and his joke of an administration have completely lost all credibility. This is his watch now and he will have to live with the consequences of his decision. Then again, I don’t think he is really the one making those decisions…he is the great and powerful OZ…I just keep watching his puppeteers behind the curtain.

We’ve got a LOT to apologize for. (Everyone does and it is a sign of strength and grace to be able to accept that.) It is such an unAmerican, not to mention silly, reactionary, and childish thing to suggest that folks who think otherwise should leave the country. We also have a lot to be proud of. I think it is smart to acknowlege both sides of the coin.
I am grateful that our President (and his administration) is seeking to follow the constitution. That is something to be very proud of. We are a nation of laws not reactionary blogs of people motivated by a false sense of national pride and a very understandable outrage over the wrong done to them.
17 November 2009 | Patti Brooks Said:
Hopeful, please let me know what you think America needs to apologize for. As for being childish to suggest people leave that don’t like it, sounds like I struck a nerve. Just don’t let the screen door hit you on the way out.
17 November 2009 | Hopeful Said:
You cannot possibly be suggesting that our nation is perfect in every way!?! Jeepers! We as a nation have made many mistakes both internally and externally, historically and recently. Take off the tea bags obscuring your view! That said, we’ve done a lot of good too with much to be proud of but it is a foolish and false pride that can’t see beyond the red, white, and blue bunting to the bad things we’ve had a hand in….like, oh say, funding Osama bin Laden or Saddam Hussein when it suited us, fomenting rebellions here and there, torturing prisoners, etc….
My family came over on the Mayflower and lived next door to the governor. As far as leaving, I don’t see any reason to cede my place to a newcomer like you. Very rude of you to suggest it. Guess it’s in keeping with your job as a one-sided shock jock and I shouldn’t expect better behaviour.
17 November 2009 | Patti Brooks Said:
Obviously you only know the progressive marxist playbook of when it doesn’t work for you lie, lie and lie some more then personalize and attack. Glad that works for you. Foolish pride behind the red, white and blue. Men and women have given their lives for you to spew your hate and you are not worthy to wipe their boots or headstones.
P.S. - My family did not come over on the Mayflower. I am a direct descendant of Pocahontas, with papers to prove it…you may have heard of her…so put that in your peace pipe and smoke it.
18 November 2009 | Renee Said:
I think it is an absolute insult to the families of 9-11 victims and to the citizens of this country to allow these prisoners to step one foot onto our soil, let alone to go to the actual scene of the horrific crime they committed. It makes me ill when I hear people, especially politicians, talk about how it’s only fitting for them to be tried in the shadows of where the Twin Towers stood. These criminals have never had any remorse for their actions, nor will they, and I believe they would like nothing better than to view in person the NY skyline devoid of the World Trade Center.

PATTI, YOU ROCK!!!!
Hopeful, I don’t give one rats a** where your ancestors come from, that was so long ago, as are the incidents your party is CONSTANTLY feeling a need to “apologize” for……you know what, you want to feel guilty……GO FOR IT!! The rest of us are forced to live in the NOW!! We are too busy trying to earn a living in the worst job market we’ve EVER seen, DIRECTLY CAUSED BY BARAK HUSSEIN OBAMA and HIS policies, trying to pay our bills in a punitive state that seems to get off on making it more and more difficult for small business to succeed, but taxing us more every chance they get, we’re paying the highest gas prices in the STATE, PSE is seeking yet ANOTHER rate increase, that they WILL get, property tax reassesments that doubled or more, what we pay for the “privilege” of living in this politically oppressive county…I don’t know “hopeful”, I think we have enough to think about, worry about, and try to do without bringing this FIASCO to our Nation…we have a little boy in the most powerful office in the WORLD, who has nothing but evil intent towards this Nation and he’s doing his damndest to make it happen. He LOVES the chaos he’s causing. He loves the idea of bringing the CONFESSED masterminds of the worst TERRORIST, NOT CRIMINAL, attack on our soil BACK TO THE SITE OF THE ATTACK, thereby inflicting MORE pain on the people who survived that day. He and people who think like him, are more concerned that those bastards get THEIR deffinition of a “fair trial” than they are about the outrage this Country feels toward the very idea of it!!
I’m so sick of liberals……..I mean viscerally sick of them. Keep your warped and sickening Anti-American views to yourself……we’re all tired of it.
Gosh, I almost think “hopeful” might be Joe Teehan!! He spouts this crap all day every day…….

Hopeful - what was that you said about Obama following the Constitution? It is daily patently obvious that he has no intention of following our hallowed document. Supposedly, he swore on something ?a Koran ? to uphold the Constitution, but we know he is a proven liar, there are too many video taped recordings of him speaking out of both sides of his month. And yes, he himself has stated he is a muslim, hope you love sharia law - they just love to chop off hands and heads - really peace loving folks - Back to the subject - these stateless terrorits do not qualify for the protection of the American judicial system. They do not qualify for Geneva convention rules either.
We Americans have no need to prove anything to any of the rest of the world. We have already fallen over backwards to house these ingrate terrorists in luxury at Club Gitmo - they should stay there and be tried by their captors. They have NO rights. Take your pathetic case to New York City and trumpet it at Ground Zero. Maybe then you’ll understand just how lucky you are that thousands have died just for petty little you to publicly spew your hatred for the decent poeple of these United States. Now go away.
18 November 2009 | Christello Said:
Hey hopeful thank you for being the chosen one, whose great past(link to the Mayflower, also known as foreign occupiers), for being the consumate apologist for America and the fact your’s invaded such a place, your forefathers would be proud..
I take it that every person you meet in your daily walk, is greeted by “your personal apology” for “your past relatives landing and occupation”, surprised you never decided to migrate back home (England)to serve the Queen after all these years of your current occupation. Unfortunately for me, I am of an Irish,Scottish,Choctaw heritage who constantly tried to fight off the Kings of this world only to have our lands taken and to walk the trail of tears.
Now since you are so convinced that this current administration is “seeking to follow the constitution”,then all is well in the land of O,and you must be in complete bliss, personally my favorite is the 9th amendment, and would love to see the 16th repealed, just like they did with the 21st amendment. Oh and as for tea bags over the eyes, it’s actually a great remedy for puffy eyes like so many O supporters have!!!
Ps: so how is that hopey, changing thing working out for you?

mb74, never apologize for spelling errors. It is very easy to get caught up in the passion of the discussion. I am not going to be the spelling police.
As far as ‘hopeful’ goes, Christello is right on about going through life with her personal apology. Hopeful has not idea what it is like in the real world. Must be nice living up there with the tooth fairy, santa claus and the savior Obama. She wears the Mayflower badge proudly like it put her first in line to be on this ground, yet she would gladly give an illegal citizenship anything without any consideration to others that have paid their own way and spent years going about it the legal way. The world of people like her is so scattered that when cornered and asked to state what they believe…deer in the headlights is about all you get for an answer. People like ‘hopeful’ are what is hurting American. I can picture ‘hopeful’ now, sitting at a government desk job, wasting space, underperforming, typing away while wasting taxpayer time and money.
As a former Obama supporter said to me recently, “hope, is sitting around waiting for someone else to do something for you…faith, is knowing you can get it done myself.”
18 November 2009 | Betsy Said:
AMEN Patti!!!
You put it perfectly when you state that she would gladly give an illegal citizenship without having one single spec of consideration for the ground work OTHERS have done to enable her, (and the people who think like her), to have the silly, dangerous world view that she does!!
19 November 2009 | Peter Said:
So to get away from the personal character attacks and back to the easily answerable question. Has this nation never made any mistakes?
19 November 2009 | Christello Said:
yep, plenty just look at the last presidential election
19 November 2009 | capt bob Said:
This should not even be open for debate, when the terrorists stand and fight which they have done on many times in Iraq and Afgan, they operate and form up as military units……..when captured on the battlefield there should be no doubt that they are to be tryed in a military court…….these terrorists on a whole are stateless para military groups, they do no warrant trail in our civilian courts…….you get brainless ideas about trying terrorists in civilain courts when you have no idea how the military operates or the rules of conduct…to have tryed the attackers of the USS Cole and the first World Trade Center bombers in civilian courts was brought to you by another great defender of the U.S. Bill Clinton….it was wrong then and it is wrong now to do so….never in the history of the U.S. have combatants captured on the battlefield been try in open U.S. court….The libs and dems can simply not be trusted with the defense of this nation….the majority of libs in my opinion where born with the birth defect of no spines.
19 November 2009 | betsy Said:
Christello…great line!!
19 November 2009 | Peter Said:
Didn’t see that coming Christ ello.
How about Abu Ghraib? Is that a mistake we should just forget? Was it a mistake at all? My philosophy is to forget any mistake I make because if it happens once it will never happen again, and it’s not like I can learn anything from it anyway. Plus, for someone as spineless as me, it helps to move forward if I don’t have to remember stuff like that. I wish I could be in the right wing, filled with love (see comments above) and faith, knowing that all I do is correct and guided by the hand of God.
Bottom line, justice is going to be done, if you’re not happy with the way it’s carried out that’s just another mistake that America didn’t make. No apologies necessary.
19 November 2009 | capt bob Said:
Point of law….Holder does not have the authority to order the military to turn the terrorists over to the justice dept….Holder does not have the authority to move the terrorist trials out of the military courts to the civilian court…..this had to be approved by Obama only he has this authority, so once again the Obama lies to Americans…How did the Obama put it “I knew nothing about this move, this is the Attorney Generals call”
19 November 2009 | Christello Said:
Peter, didn’t see that coming? was that due to the tea bags on the eyes or a failure to see things how they really are or is this your first trip to this wonderfully harsh planet filled with humans of the lowest character in all positions of life?
I find it interesting that you adhere to a self realized philosophy of forget mistakes made, hoping it will never happen again, and not to have learned anything from it. Since I am trying very hard not to fall under the effects of alzheimer, I try to remember all of the cause and effects of past and present mistakes, hitting my finger with a hammer, feeling the pain, working through the healing only to do it again on another occassion.
The way I see it, all of the feel goods of the world have no true concept of history or of man and seem to think that their brand of justice in this 200+ year experiment of our’s, will keep people from resorting back to their most basic instincts of power, control, corruption, murder and mayhem.
Oh will all get through this, just like we always do, just might cost us and them a lot more than we were thinking it would and I am not talking dollars.
Ps: the fact we have the ability to love, does not deminish the fact that we can also have the ability to kill. Until the evil of this world lays down it’s weapons and turns them to plowshares, I will keep them all in the crosshairs of my sights. the Redcoats are coming! the Redcoats are coming!
19 November 2009 | Don Chadd Said:
Hi, Patti, this is Don Chadd from the Tea Party.
I couldn’t get through to you when your show was on so I’m sending you some comments I have on the proposed terrorst trial in New York.
Look past the trial and you will see they have brought up this issue at the same time as they are trying to pass this disasterous healthcare bill and Cap and Trade. They are using the trial to take our eyes off the devastating effects their new healthcare plan and taxes will have on us and the resulting loss of our freedoms. Their plan is to collapse our economy and transform America into a country which will make us slaves to the government for generations.
As to the upcoming trial, here are some good questions:
What did Eric Holder do with terrorists at the end of the Clinton admininstration?
Where did Obama get his early education?
Why did he send Jessie Jackson Jr. around the world to meet with the Muslims to tell them a new way of treating the Muslims was on the way?
Why did he bow to the King of Arabia?
Why is he so hesitant to win the war in Pakistan?
Do you really think the terrorists will be convicted? The President and his people have already made statements that will insure a mistrial.
Has he yet called the massacre at Fort Hood a terrorist attack?
Didn’t he quote from the Koran in perfect arabic when he was in Cairo?
Have you noticed a pattern of protecting Muslims coming from the White House?
We don’t call the war on terrorist anymore we now call it a man made desaster.
20 November 2009 | capt bob Said:
Don……..In the Koran, you will find that Islam permits lying to infidels (non believers)…..Muslims lie when it is to their interest to do so… Allah will not hold them accountable when it is benefical to the case of Islam…They can lie without any guilt or fear of accountability or retribution…..A lie in the defense of Islam is approved and even applauded in their holy books…….Muslims are even permitted to disavow Islam and Mohammed if it is not a genuine heart felt rejection..
Muslims will tell you that concealment of a truth is not an abandonment of the truth if it benefits Islam..
You stated Don “Didnt he quote from the Koran in perfect arabic when he was in Cairo?” My answer, yes didnt he….judge what you hear from this administration accordingly………….the same for the lame stream media that will be happy to advance the lies in the name of diversity….
