OneAmerica…United to Help Illegals

An advocacy group OneAmerica is asking Homeland Security to rein in Border Patrol in Whatcom County.  They also want an independent investigation into the death of a Lynden man who was shot 10 times by Whatcom County sheriff’s deputy & Border Patrol agents after attacking the deputy with a hammer.  What are your thoughts?

The State mandates all single-family residences must have water meters by 2017.  Do you think this is a good idea?  Do you think you are paying too much for water? I can guarantee the public will be charged more after everyone is on the water meters.  I mean really, they will have to pay for the FREE meters and eventually and it will take away any potential to save money!

Prices go down, taxes go up. the ride continues.  Since 2006 the local home price index for Whatcom County has depreciated 11.3%.  Has your assessed home value reflected a similar percentage change? Also, have your property taxes gone down?  How do we fix the problem?  First and foremost, we need to stop taking property off the tax rolls and changing zoning without stating what the impact will be to the taxpayers who are left make up the difference in lost revenue!

The headlines say gasoline could reach $8 a gallon by summer as we are seeing prices jump at the at the pump. What needs to be done to fix the problem…is the answer domestic drilling of fossil fuels or is green & renewable energy the answer? Do you think the EPA and President Obama’s energy policies are hurting America?

A family wants the “Under God” removed from the Pledge of Allegiance in their public schools because it marginalizes them.  What are your thoughts?  Also, a Texas elementary school is teaching the kindergartners a chant about President Obama for Black History month.  What are your thoughts?   

Government Invades Lunchboxes

In North Carolina the Department of Human and Health Services requires all lunches served to preschoolers to meet USDA guidelines.  One such preschooler was told her lunch her mother packed was not nutritious, and was forced to eat chicken nuggets.  What are your thoughts?  Does the government belong in your child’s lunchbox?

According to a report released on Tuesday by Pew Research, there are big problems with our voter registration rolls.  Approximately 1.8 million dead people are registered as active voters.  Do you have faith in our election system?  What do you suggest we do to fix it?

Sustainable Rain

A couple has been denied the right to use only rainwater for a home they want to build in Point Roberts.  The PRWD says if they opt out to connecting to service (cost of $8,000) others may do so as well, and they will have trouble paying for capital projects.  However, the county has one home which uses solely rainwater, and others have been permitted, yet not built.  What are your thoughts? I believe the push to go green has taken effect, now they just want to deny people.
