To Recover or Not to Revcover…

…that is the question???
Bellingham area residents made less money last year.  Per-capita personal income in Whatcom County dropped more than 2.5 percent in 2009 compared to 2008.  The average local income was less than $35,000 last year.  Nationwide – income dipped 2.8 percent in the same time period.  Personal income fell in 223 of the 366 metro areas surveyed.  In the few places where income rose – most of the growth was from government jobs.  Kennewick was one of a handful of places where the gains were from the private sector – but the Wall Street Journal reports those gains also had a government component.  Kennewick has received a flurry of stimulus money to clean up the Hanford nuclear waste site, some of which flowed to local firms.   - KGMI News Report 08/10/10

California Judge’s Decision

August 5th, 2010 | By patti-kgmi in Uncategorized | 10 Comments »

What are your thoughts on the federal judge declaring California’s ‘ban on same-sex marriage’ unconstitutional? Do you support civil unions? Is it the government’s role to even be involved in marriage?

I read many of the blogs on in LA Times, S.F. Chronicle and the Seattle Times, why has this become an issue about changing the definition of marriage?  The next thing you know, we will have someone claiming marriage is between a man an eight women and the justices will site Sharia Law as an argument.  My friends who are gay feel this argument is nothing more than political grandstanding and the progressives are the ones with the issue.  Finally, if the federal government does not have a defined role in marriage and it is left up to the states, how can  a judge throw out the will of the people?  Agree or disagree with homosexuality, it appearsfrom even some of the blog from those whom claim to be gay, that we do have a legislative process and the people have spoken.  I think the government and politics have no business in any person’s bedroom.   Thoughts?
